Languages of Vigilance
Annual Conference of the CRC
21.10.2021 – 22.10.2021
with Christopher Balme (LMU), Julia Burkhardt (LMU), Maddalena Fingerle (LMU), Antonia Fiori (Rom), Inbar Graiver (Jerusalem), Michael Hahn (LMU), Thomas Kaufmann (Göttingen), Beate Kellner (LMU), Christoph Levin (LMU), Florian Mehltretter (LMU), Tanja Prokic (Dresden), Olaf Stieglitz (Leipzig).
The CRC’s annual conference will address the linguistic and general semiotic dimension of vigilance. The idea that languages and sign systems play a decisive role in processes and cultures of vigilance serves as a starting point. It is neither possible, nor our intention, to cover the field of these languages of vigilance in its entirety. Instead, over the course of the conference, especially significant constellations will be analysed in detail in an exemplary fashion on the one hand, whilst, on the other, the question as to how, and to what degree, the sign systems in question are, indeed, languages of vigilance will be systematically discussed.
