Regina Bichler studied Chemistry, Biochemistry and Japanese Studies in Munich, Pavia and Osaka. After graduating in 2018, she worked in a Japanese chemical company in the field of translation and intercultural communication. She is also a member of the DFG Emmy Noether Research Group ‘Hazardous Travels. Ghost Acres and the Global Waste Economy’ led by Dr Simone M. Müller. Her doctoral project, which is being carried out at the Rachel Carson Centre in Munich, focuses on Waste-Society Relations in “Zero-Waste Cities” and Their Implications for the Establishment of Sustainable Practices: A Case Study of Munich, Kamikatsu, and Kyoto. Since November 2025, she has been a scholarship holder at the Collaborative Research Centre Vigilance Cultures at LMU Munich.
